UPDATE: 11/10/2015

Shiloh’s little personality has really started to show over the past few weeks as well as her waist line!  We have found that she does in fact bark.  She is not the kind of girl to just bark out of the blue, but has to have a reason.  There are still times when her foster brothers and sisters are barking and she is quietly paying attention.

Shiloh has become quite the little ball chaser.  She loves the squeaky balls and plays fetch quite well.  She will play and play until her tongue is hanging out the side of her mouth then play some more.  We do notice some alpha tendencies and believe she would be happy as an only doggy as long as she got plenty of attention or with a mild mannered sibling.  Also, one of her favorite things to do is to hunt moles!  She is pretty good at it too!  So, if you have critters running around your house, she will find them whatever it takes!  Over all, Shiloh is a very happy little girl.

ORIGINAL BIOGRAPHY:

Shilo is the ultimate lap dog!  She loves to be near her human although she gets along well with the other dogs in the home, both male and female.  She seems to be scared of big dogs and is not a fan of cats.  Shilo was given up along with 3 other dogs because her Mom became ill and had to move to a place where only 1 pet was allowed.  What a terrible choice to have to make.

Shilo has not been in our home for long, but we have yet to hear her bark!  Even when all the other dogs are barking, she sits quietly, but pays close attention to what is going on.  She is a mild-mannered little gal until she gets a hold of a toy, then watch out!  Within minutes it will be ripped, de-stuffed, de-squeaked and ripped some more!  No toy shall survive!  Typical Dachshund!

We are not sure where she slept in her previous home, but here she has been sleeping all night in the big bed with no issues and is very happy when she wakes up.  When Shilo is relaxing she seems to be comfortable with her tongue sticking out.  You cannot help but to smile!  She is still a little “fluffy” and could stand to lose a bit more weight, and we are working on that. We are also working on leash training which is going extremely well.  I have not yet witnessed any accidents in the house and she does great going potty outside.

We will continue to update about this little angel as her personality shines through even more.  Feel free to contact Foster Mommy at decollinss@aol.com or visit http://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/

More about Shilo......WI

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
