BIO:

Wrigley was a stray found by a lady attempting to locate the owners without success.  After a few months she opted to surrender her to the Furbaby Rescue in Pell City, AL.

Since she has been with her new Foster Family- she is very active with her other four-legged playmates.   She loves to be held, sleeps in a crate at night, uses the doggie door and has no fear or food aggressions.  She would do much better with a fenced in yard because she loves sun bathing on the deck during warm summer days.

She would do well as an only pet or with a pack. She is very friendly and social.  She does not bark much but loves to jump on everything she sees.  If you feel you offer Wrigley a loving home, she will follow you everywhere and be your best friend forever.

Good with Dogs, unknown with Cats, Good with Kids

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45 once to transport the dog to an approved quarantine facility and then a second fee of $50 to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.  The quarantine is a New Hampshire requirement for any animal imported into the state.  We cannot negotiate or waive these fees as they are expenses to AADR.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
