RESCUE #: 2015-06-26-02 Anyone applying to adopt Mickey must be willing to travel to Benton KY to pick him up as we will not put him on a volunteer transport/no exceptions.
Bio: Mickey is a kissy face playful fluff of love. He is so soft and gorgeous. He plays great with his other 3 brothers and 1 sister. Mickey and his siblings were born on June 26th, 2015, in a vet’s office in Tennessee, after their mom, Lady, was surrendered by a family who couldn’t take care of her anymore. Mickey plays for a little bit and sleeps a lot, just like most puppies do. Mickey and his brother Peebles look almost identical and even have the same personalities. He is a precious soft fluffy doll (people think he looks like a stuff animal) however, remember that puppies are a LOT of work, and they really do require someone at home around the clock (aside from errands) to train and take care of them. If you have little or no experience with owning a puppy, I highly recommend a book called “The Puppy Primer” by Patricia B. McConnell, which you can get from Amazon. “Dachshunds for Dummies” (on Amazon as well) is also an excellent source of information, even if you already have experience with dachshunds. Please be advised that if you are approved to adopt you will have to come to Benton or Paducah, KY to pick up the puppies after their 2nd set of shots, which are scheduled for August 28th, 2015,

More about Mickey....TN
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
