BIO:

Alcapone came from Knoxville and was found as a stray. He came in like he’s always been here, ready to rock and roll. His name fits him to a T!!

He loves to play, play and is busy, busy so you need to have an active lifestyle and a young dog to keep him busy playing. He will settle down at night when things quiet down and he sleeps all night in a crate.

He’s doing very well on his housebreaking skills and in the morning after crate time will go right out and potty. We would just recommend keeping him on a schedule until he learns yours.

This guy is a friendly, curious, happy boy and would be a great family member. Please contact his foster mom if you have any questions as he has just come in and we are still learning about each other.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
