BIO:

Are you looking for a pet that you can take with you everywhere because she is so small? Well Jade fits that bill, at just 6lbs she’s a great pet to take in planes, trains and cars. She is not however leash trained that you would have to do before you would take her places.

Jade came from a breeder and given up cause only the man could handle her but since she’s been in rescue only women have handled her and she’s fine. While the foster daddy can hold her she will not come to him like she does the foster mom. We think that she just attaches herself to one person and that is her person and she wants no others. She is learning to bark when a car pulls in the drive but quiets easily when told no.

She will get in your lap at every opportunity or follow you around the house or yard. When she first came here she wanted nothing to do with anyone but as time has gone on and she’s developed trust in her foster mom, she can now pick her up and do anything to her. She would need someone that’s very patient with her, no harsh words just love and treats and she’ll be the wonderful pets she was meant to be. Her coat is getting softer, at first it was very course and dry but now with good food it’s getting softer and shinier.

We would like a fenced in yard for Jade along with someone that is home a lot with her so she can continue to put her puppymill life and memories behind her and develop into that wonderful pet. Are you ready to take on that challenge? Please do not apply if you have any doubts that you can’t continue work with her on housebreaking and leash training….the trust will come.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
