Hi all…Watson here. I wanted to update my “Blog” since I have been in my Foster Home a few weeks now. I have settled in, and am enjoying being spoiled and loved. I have so enjoyed going for my walks and playing in the fenced in yard. My last entry mentioned I needed to lose a few pounds, and I am happy to report my Foster Mom has been good about keeping me to my diet & exercise, so I have my boyish figure back! It also mentioned I need some work on my socialization skills. I am getting better on trusting people, but will still like someone to help me realize not everyone is out to treat me wrong.
I hear my Foster Mom & Dad talk about me saying what a great pet I would be for someone. I am always considerate to let them know when I have to go outside, or I am ready for my walks. They like to carry me to my bed/crate at night….and I let them (did I mention how I am enjoying being spoiled?). They let me have the house while they are at work during the day, and I never get into anything or have accidents. I like playing with my toys and just hanging out until they get home. I am always happy to see them and give them lots of kisses. I like having my belly rubbed and being petted, but I prefer you let me get to know you first…..I am not a “kiss on the first date” kinda guy, but it doesn’t take long.
As much as I love being in my Foster home, I do want to find my furever home. Please contact my Foster Mom if you are wanting a handsome loving Dachshund Dude with a great personality and awesome hair!

Watson #3 came from Long Island, NY because the owner just didn’t know what to do to handle him. There is nothing wrong with Watson other than the fact that he has not been properly socialized. With Watson the adopter needs to continue to work with him on taking him out with people on a leash and controlling him with a leash when people come to visit. Whoever adopts Watson is getting a great dog with a little work. He is completely housetrained (a plus for a dachshund), sleeps in a doggie bed at night in a gated kitchen BUT loves to be outside during the day. MUST have a fenced yard and either a doggie door or home to allow him access to the out of doors. He gets along great with the other foster dogs, male and female but would also be just fine alone. He is on a diet and needs to lose about 2 lbs to be one hunk of a handsome man! More about Watson number 3.....INGood with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
