BIO: Bit-Bit was surrendered by the family of her owner when the owner passed away. When she first came into rescue she was scared and confused, so much had happened in just less than a month, she lost her mom, her home and a family that didn’t want her. Bit-Bit is just the sweetest little girl but has suffered from some neglect because her fur was matted so we had to shave her down to help it grow in and be groomed and for it to be pretty again. She has that baby fine soft fur and is just beautiful when it’s all grown out. She does this cutest little thing of putting her little paw gently on your arm when she wants your attention and she gives soft butterfly kisses. She will make a GREAT pet for anyone but since her owner was a single lady she’ll get more attached to the lady of the house. She is housebroken but could have a few accidents until she learns your schedule. Since her owner was sick most of the time that she had Bit-Bit she would do better with a stay at home person. She was an only dog as well but would be fine with another dog too. We just are not sure about cats and small children would make her too nervous but a quiet child of 10+ would be fine that understands her space.
Bit-Bit loves to sleep on the big bed with her own blanket covered over her up at the top of the bed, she will not stay under the covers next to you but is fine with her own blanket and space.
If you are looking for a small quiet companion that is just as sweet and gentle as can be than Bit-Bit is for you, because she has no fur to keep her warm in the colder climates we are asking for only FL residents to apply. Thank you for thinking of rescue and please contact her foster mom if you have any further questions.
=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
