BIO:

Thank you for taking an in interest in my Foster baby Max.

Max is looking for a new home after his previous owner passed away. He WAS heartworm positive, but after AADR saved him and got him the treatment he so desperately needed, I'm proud to say he is officially heartworm free and ready to be adopted. Max is a standard sized dachshund weighing in at a healthy 18lbs.

Max is the most laid back and free loving dog I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He is a little timid at first, but it won't take long for him to welcome you with a tail-wag and warm kisses. He is a dream with other dogs, cats, and even kids. If boundaries are respected, he will be the perfect companion for any situation. Max spends his day either rough housing with a squeaky toy or stuffed animal, or running and playing in a completely fenced in yard. He spends his nights burrowing himself in as many blankets he can get his paws on. He is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Max comes with a 4 month supply of HeartGuard to ensure he has everything he needs to not have to tussle with those heartworms ever again. If Max sounds like the companion you are looking for, feel free to email me as I am always available to answer any and all inquiries.

Max is done with treatment and ready to go to his new home...please he's tired of foster care and wants a home to call his own!!

Max was an owner surrender in East TN and was heartworm positive so we’ve set to work to clear him of the heartworms and he’ll come with a 4 mos supply of Heartgard and will need to be retested at the end of the 4 mos. Max will be ready to go to his new home the middle of Feb. What a great Valentine’s gift for yourself. Max is a DREAM. Sweet, laid back and likes to play with the other fosters so another young dog for him to play with is best. He’s a small standard so he’s got the standard mentality and standards are known to be more laid back that the mini’s and tweenie’s. He is a little shy at first until he’s sure you can be trusted and after that all is well. He lives to sleep covered up in either a bed, couch or your bed, he’s not fussy.

Older kids would be fine as long as they understand the dogs boundaries and respect them. Max needs a fenced in yard and he loves to be outside playing in the yard.

He’s housebroken to a doggie door and would just need a refresher on going to the door when he needs out but he will not potty in the gated kitchen where he sleeps at night sometimes.

If you are looking for a big sized dachshund and can wait until the middle of Feb than Max is your man and he’s one handsome dude too!

More about Max number 11 AKA: Mr. Barkley.....FL

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
