Update, 3/11/15:
Hello everyone! This is Annie and I went to the vet today for a check-up and I have great news! There are still no lumps or any indications that I ever had a mass. I have reached a healthy weight, had my nails trimmed and anal glands expressed, so I am feeling pretty great these days. My Foster Brother and I have been playing together some, but mostly I still just love my squeaky tennis balls. The larger ones are even more fun than the small ones are! Sometimes I get a burst of energy and go running through the house because I just cannot contain my excitement about being a pet and free to run and play. This is the life! I have discovered that walking on the leash is a piece of cake and car rides are pretty cool too. My Foster Mommy is always telling me how smart, pretty and sweet I am. Whoever adopts me will be very lucky and well loved. I hope you don’t mind kisses!!!

Update, 2/17/15:
Annie continues to grow leaps and bounds as a pet. She has discovered snuggling on the couch with her Foster Family and loves being a lap dog! She prefers her Foster Mommy's lap and will growl if others get too close, but she will listen when she is told, No! We still have not gotten many opportunities to walk on the leash, however she does well walking with her Foster Brother for short trips around the neighborhood. Her protectiveness over her crate and toys is still present, but has much improved. Within her first 2 weeks in her new Foster Home, she started scratching at the back door to let us know when she needs to go potty. If she is not able to go potty outside, she will use a potty pad, if provided. Annie is a very smart little girl. We think she must have been a good little Mommy because she likes to bathe the cat whenever he is near. She is very curious of the more flighty kitty who likes to hide from her and has swatted Annie a time or two. This seems to hurt her feelings, but pull out the squeaky ball and her world is a brighter place again! Annie is doing really well with her weight loss and should be reaching her ideal weight in no time. She really is a sweetheart and will continue to thrive in a loving environment.

Update, 1/27/15:
Annie is now in a new Foster Home and is doing very well. It took a couple of days for her to get use to the new schedule, but she has the hang of it now! She hates the cold but does not mind the snow at all! On sunny days, she loves to bask in the sunshine and soak up the rays. The weather has not yet allowed us to go for walks, but we will be working on that.
Annie likes to play and her tail is always wagging! She seems so happy to be living the life of a pet and not as a puppy machine. The small squeaky tennis balls are her favorite. Once she rips the cloth off of the outside that is. She loves to chase them and then squeak all the way back to you so you can throw it again! Sharing is not one of Annie’s strong suits. Her toys are hers and her bed/crate is hers! We still believe she would do best as an only dog or with a submissive male/female.
Pictures really do not do this girl justice. She is pretty on the outside as well as the inside. Annie is still discovering the life of a pet and companionship and is already such a good and happy little girl. She will only get better as time goes by! Contact me if you think Annie would be a good fit for your family. I am very happy to answer any questions.

Annie #5 came from the same home that Sami came from, over-fed, over-bred and kept in the basement of the house. It took her over two weeks before she knew that sleeping in a doggie bed was better than sleeping on the hard floor. Annie is very protective of her food and her space and for these reasons, we suggest that she go to a home with a submissive male or female but probably male first.
She did have a mass on her abdomen that had cancer cells in it, but it has been removed and the vet feels that they did get it all. She is working very hard at losing weight to get down to a healthy weight of about 14-14 lbs. She came to us at 21 lbs. For that reason, Annie can never be free-fed but will have to have portions for her activity level and age.
She is just now learning to play a little with the other fosters…at first she was very scared of any interaction with the other fosters except for Sami whom she came in with.
She seems fearful of the outside and will have to be kept on a schedule of going potty and staying out with her until she has completed her task and rewarded with a treat.
All in all Annie will make a wonderful pet as soon as she realizes she is not a breeding machine but a treasured pet of her forever home. Could that be you?
