Freckles is a little brindle, short haired dachshund, standard sized. He is active and likes to play tackle with his siblings. He also is very friendly and loves to climb over anyone sitting in his path and nibble on their toes. He doesn’t meet a stranger. He does fine with baths and having his nails done.

Freckles loves to play and would do well in a family with either other dogs or with kids 6 and up. He is very social and gets lonely if left alone for too long with out his playmates. He needs to stay on a leash because he loves to run like the wind too. Do you have room in your family for one more member? His siblings have all been adopted and he is the last one.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If we have them go ground transport, the adopter is responsible for an additional $25 fee for a Health Certificate that is required to cross state lines. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
