BIO:

Updated bio Jan 24th

Woody was returned to us because he was protective of the wife and they didn't know how to handle his possessiveness. In his new foster home where he is made to understand that he is not running the show he's shown only a little protectiveness at first but now is just fine. Woody needs to go to either a single man or woman or a husband and wife that are used to dachshund behavior and help him to understand he doesn't run the show. We highly recommend the book "Nother In Life Is Free" to help you keep him in his place. A fenced in yard is a must or a regular exercise program for Woody would work great. If you do have another dog which would be fine then you'd need to understand he's not good at sharing his toys.

Hi, My name is Woody and I have found myself looking for a Furever Home.  My other people said they didn’t have enough room for me any more.  I am now at my foster mom’s house and she has told me we will be looking for a family that will be my very own and not have to go thru this again.

Woody is good on his leash, crate trained, potty trained if kept on a schedule and  he is learning the cats in the house don’t want his toys but he hasn’t bothered them (haha).   Woody is learning that the toys are for everyone and not just him.  We can tell that Woody hasn’t had a lot of training but we are working on commands and using a lot of praise for his good deeds.  Woody is having fun learning to go out the doggie door and loves running the fenced in yard so it would be great to have a yard for him.

 Please consider Woody as your fur baby he would make a really great addition to your home and will give you lots of Doggie Kisses and LOVE.

Woody is up to date on all shots, on heartworm prevention, has had his dental and is mirochiped .  He is ready for his very own Furever Family.

Also video links to Youtube are ok and encouraged.  However, inclusion of videos to the dog’s bios is at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors and Johnny based on quality, content, and favorable portrayal of the dachshund(s).

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new best friend" get up and down the East Coast.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
