BIO:

Kenzie came from an owner in Middle AL that didn’t want her any longer and was going to take her to the shelter. Another independent rescuer contacted us to see if we’d take her and find her a home. We sure are glad we did!! You could not ask for a better sweeter little girl. She is gentle, quiet, happy for whatever scraps of attention you can give her. She is blossoming in our foster home. We think she’d be fine along or with another pet.

She’s not had an accident in the house, goes outside to do her business and if you are outside she’ll stay with you and help you with whatever you need help with.  While she does get along with other dogs we think she’d be just as fine by herself because she wants to be with her person more than with other dogs.

She will go in a crate when we leave or when we feed but it’s not someplace she’d really rather be but she won’t make a sound when she’s in a crate just waits for you to let her out.

She’s still adjusting to being her but from what we see now she’d make someone a great pet. As with all new dogs coming into a new home they need time to adjust and you can’t expect that in 1-3 days you have to give it time, love and patience. Please consider her to be your treasure instead of the other person’s trash.

Opt to adopt NOT buy!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
