BIO:

Joey came from the Athens, AL animal shelter where he was given up by his owner. He is somewhat shy and will take a little time to warm up to his humans. Once he does, he’s a lap dog wanting to be in your lap every time you sit down. He will follow you from room to room helping you in whatever you do.

Joey is not really a barker but he’ll join in if the other fosters start but  doesn’t instigate the barking.

Joey is housebroken to a doggie door but with a little patience he will catch on to going to the door he’s doing so well. At first he didn’t know how to use the doggie door but once he caught on he was using it like a champ.

Joey likes to sleep on the couch with the other fosters at night but I’m sure would love to be in bed with you.

You couldn’t ask for a better new family member than Joey, with love and patience he’ll be the best buddy you’ve ever had. Please consider this wonderful boy, you won’t be sorry.

More about Joey...KS

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
