BIO:
Hi my name is Pocahontas, well that’s the name that the shelter gave me. It wasn’t a bad place but I sure was glad when that lady came and pulled me out of there. I heard her say I was way too thin and some good food would help that. I was all about that and I am putting on some weight and looking better than I did even if I do say so myself. When I meet you I might be a little scared but I can’t help it you see I’ve been through a lot in the short amount of time I have been away from my owner, you see I don’t think they cared for me they sure didn’t care that my teeth were bad. Sadly they have to take out my two canines but that’s ok I can still chew hard food.
I like soft beds, green grass and running in my nice fenced in yard. They tell me I’m an alpha female whatever that means but I don’t really care for other females but get along with the males. I can either live with you or with another buddy as long has he is a boy. He can show me the good spots to potty in your yard. I want a nice fenced in yard so I can enjoy the summer months. Please could you see it in your heart to give me a loving home?

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
