BIO:

Hello Maggie here,

I am a beautiful black and tan going on 3years old. I was born and raised here Lancaster County PA “no I am not Amish” everyone wants to know that. I know you were thinking perhaps I am. I was surrendered to AADR by my first family because I'd have an accident in the house. My foster mom is so very pleased with me, I have had one. Am I totally house broken, I think I am and so does my mom but you have to keep me on a schedule. Please don't let me in a crate all day and than all night. I was very nervous when I got here. I couldn't sit still. I was very nervous. Each day that passes it's getting easier to warm up to everyone. This house is soooooo busy. I am still a little loner. Do not get me wrong, I am not used to this all the hustle bustle and all these other four legged friends that share my home here with me. Two of their own dachshunds, and two more fosters like myself. Oh let’s not forget about the cat and the bird, yes he even talks, no not the cat. They have grandchildren of all ages and they are just awesome. They like me and I them. My foster dad thinks I am “a” ok in his book. I think when I find the most loveable, sweetest, kindness, caring home and I know it's out there and I will find it. You know how we dachshunds are we can make anything happen.

More about Maggie #7...NY

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
