BIO

Jasmine has a very lonely story to tell but she’s not lonely now that she’s in rescue. She was purchased as a Christmas present for the family when Jasmine was only 6 weeks old, sadly the wife passed away the following Oct. Jasmine was then almost totally ignored. Put in a hall way with puppypads and given food and water when needed. But then a kind lady came along and decided she needed rescue and in we came. Jasmine is a wonderful girl. When foster dad is around she’s all daddy’s girl but with foster daddy is gone then she’s mommy’s girl. She is learning to go outside to potty and will do very well when you go out with her and of course puppypads down will work as well. Jasmine after being starved for attention for almost two years really really wants to be with her people. She is fine with other dogs but can be a little jealous of others getting attention that she feels she deserves but with gentle correction she is learning there is plenty to go around.

Jasmine really needs a special family, that understands what she’s been though and will help her to be a wonderful pet going forward. She’s learning to play a little with the other fosters in the home, at first she was very scared of them then she realized they meant her no harm after all she’d never been around another dog or cat, just her alone in a hallway, family walking by but never stopping to pay her any attention.

We want a younger family for Jasmine, older kids are fine, another dog is ok and definitely a fenced in yard because she’s not leash trained. Only apply if you have a fenced in yard and NO invisible fencing is acceptable for this or any of our dogs.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
