BIO:

My name is Vivian, I am three years old. I LOVE attention. My foster mom has told everyone that I am so sweet. I like to just hang. I am a little heavier than I should be so I am on Metobolic for weight control and getting thinner all the time, in fact I personally think I am all that. Didn't exercise much until I came here. Wow what a busy house this is. My foster parents have two very nice dachshunds of their own, two puppies which are leaving soon. Then it's me and soon getting another foster. The cat Alex, he is as big as me. We get along a ok. I don't chase him, we just keep our distance. He takes over “my” chair I like to sit in, he won't move for me, so I find another. THEN they have this bird Sammy. I haven't figured him out, he talks and I mean real words. He even says we're “bad dogs” when we're all running around. I stood up at his cage, he nipped me, needless to say I now look at him from the floor. Oh I need to add children to the mix. My foster parents have 5 grandchildren. They range from 3 years like myself to 12. My foster mom also has children a couple times a week she babysits for. I like them and they all like me, I like being in the mix of it all, but boy oh boy does it get crazy around here. So when I am tired out I just lay and observe. They tire me out. I have had more exercise than ever. I am not much of a barker. With this all being said, I am liking it here, but would really like a home and family of my own, who will love and take wonderful care of me. My foster mom is right I am very sweet and well behaved. If I can live here it's “crazy” need I say more. I am very loved here, I just want a “home of my own” My foster mom loves to talk so she will be more than happy to answer any question you may have.

More about Vivian...NC

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
