BIO

Ariel came from a hoarder situation in AL where she was willingly given up. She came to us with hair loss, skin issues and bad teeth but with a good dental(she did lose some teeth from neglect) and now good food her skin issues have resolved itself but her hair could still be light in some areas of her chest and top of her head but that could also be from inbreeding which we are sure these people did.  All in all she is in so much better shape than when we got her and she’s a happy girl too.

She loves to lay on your lap or be next to you while you are busy. She will follow you around the house or out in your fenced in yard. She would do go with another dog or by herself if you were home most of the time. She really likes being with her people.

Please consider giving her a home where she’ll never be neglected again.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
