Hi, my name is Patches. I am a diamond in the rough with unforgettable “Ice Blue” eyes. I am the sweetest little girl once I get to know you. I was surrendered by my owner to another Rescue group who surrendered me ( and one of my puppies - Jade) to AADR. I am very friendly and I have been told I have a “Sassy” attitude by my Foster Mom. Hey- doesn’t EVERY doxie have an attitude?? My Foster Mom has four doxies and another foster I love to play with. I get along with all small dogs (never seen a cat) and have NO food/fear aggressions. I enjoy going outside through the doggie door and the yard is completely fenced in to keep me safe. I love to cuddle on laps, nap on the back of the coach and snuggle under blankets with my doxie playmates. I am working on learning to take walks on a leash and I like riding in the car. My dream Forever Home would have another doxie/dog companion for me to chum around with. I am very young and have lots of energy. If you are looking for the Special Doxie to add to your home- I would be the one. If you adopt me I will be your BEST friend forever and always be at your side.
Once I get comfortable in a home – I am very relaxed and happy. I like playing with toys and my foster sisters & brother. I enjoy car rides and sleeping in the BIG bed with everyone. I do bark some when I get nervous- but don’t most Dachshunds? I am looking for my Forever Home- the Home and family who is willing to take the time and help me get over my insecurities and social isolation. If you adopt me- I will love you and be your BEST Friend for “Life”. What more could you want?
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
