Nemo is a handsome red boy with a gentle personality. He is a little nervous when meeting new people, but if he is treated kindly he will your best friend in no time. Nemo walks well on a leash and enjoys strolls around the neighborhood. He likes to play and keep an eye out for squirrels. Nemo is a calm fellow who follows walks and playtime with a nap under a blanket or in a lap. He gets along well with other dogs, large and small. Nemo is house trained and crate trained. He will sleep in a crate or dog bed, but would prefer to sleep with his people. Nemo hasn't been around cats, but he can be introduced to some if you need to know how he does. If you are looking for a handsome little shadow and lap warmer, Nemo is your man!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
