BIO

Just look at that sweet face.  She’s the cutest little sock thieving bandit there ever was and she has the mask to prove it.  I think she does it so she can have something of her human’s. The smell, the touch, the fact that she has someone that gives her attention, loves her and treats her as their own.  Bama Lou didn’t know these things before this year.  She was rescued from a puppy mill, along with 29 other pups, where all she knew was having puppies.  No love. No attention.  Just used for her womb. Such horrible conditions and a terrible fate for such a sweet and precious little girl. She’s a smart one though and is adjusting nicely in her new found life.  She’s gotten pretty attached to her foster mom but is still unsure of others, however, she is learning to trust and learning that love from all is a wonderful thing.  She’s not a burrower like most doxies. She prefers to get as close as she can around your neck or back.  Cute but weird. She’s learning to play with her foster brother and sister and you should see her run.  She runs like she’s never run before and maybe she hasn’t. She loves a good squeaky toy but doesn’t like Beggin’ Strips. She’s a sucker for a good belly rub and would rather sleep in the big bed but does great in a crate.  And when she sleeps, she has the cutest little snore.  If you decide to give Bama Lou a chance by giving her a loving forever home, she will capture your heart and leave you wondering who was rescued.  You know you want to.  Email Bama Lou’s foster mom today before someone else does.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
