Hi everyone, this is Blessing!  Blessing was rescued from a puppy mill and found in deplorable conditions.  Like many puppy mill dogs she is skittish and takes a while to warm up.  She feels more comfortable if you get down to her level when you approach her. 

Despite where she came from she is still a loving and sweet little girl, who wants to be with her human.  She is learning that belly rubs are good and loves to have hers rubbed.  She is an alpha dog so if you have a female she will need to submissive, she tends to be better with males, but could live with the right female.   When she walks she walks very fast which is common, after having lived in a cage her whole life this is the most freedom she’s EVER had. 

Please don’t apply to adopt Blessing unless you are willing to work with her on her issues, some puppy mill dogs never get over their pasts, but with time, love, and mostly patience thay can learn to live with their pasts and put them in the past.  Do you think you can do this for her?  If you can find it in your heart to give her the new live she so deserves please apply to adopt Blessing or contact her foster mom for more information. 

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
