Zelda is an owner surrender due to financial reasons. She appears to have been well taken care of and is quite an eye catcher. Her coat is wavy; and the dark brown color with a reddish tint makes it beautiful!
She gets along fine with our two dachshunds and our cat. Thus far she doesn’t play with any of them or lay beside them. Zelda appears to be independent and is most happy being with her foster mommy. She follows me wherever I go and will whine some if she knows I am in the house and she is behind gate in bedroom. I think she would do well in a home without any other dogs for a forever home who only wants one dog. Zelda loves the attention on her.
Zelda is housebroken. She likes to play with squeaky toys as long as you play tug a war with her. She will hold on to it with all her might. She is not a barker just to bark, but is a good watchdog. In addition, she rides well in the car.
Zelda will make a great addition to any home who wants a sweet and loving dachshund. It won’t take much to make her happy-just let her sit in your lap.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
