BIO:

Reese #2 came to us from Birmingham, AL were she was dumped by a breeder we believe, found as a stray. Sadly she was heartworm positive and due to the heartworms, has an enlarged heart that she currently takes a very cheap drug for treatment  called encard. We have treated her for her heartworm and she is free of those now but unfortunately they did enlarge her heart.

What we didn’t know was that while we were treating her for her heartworms she was also pregnant. She has now had her babies and weaned them and now it’s her time to find a home. We know that a lot of people will overlook her because of her enlarged heart but they will be missing out on a wonderful girl. She is so very sweet, laid back, great with all people and kids and not a barker. When looking for a treasure don’t overlook the gold because of one flaw. She does need to be kept on a very strict schedule for pottying outside for that reason we think she needs to go to someone that is home most of the time and has a fenced in yard.

Please help Reese to find her forever home you’ll not be sorry.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
