I am so excited that you might adopt me! I’ve been having fun at my foster home in Middle Tennessee but am anxious to find my new forever home. My previous owner had to go into a nursing home, and I was rescued from a shelter. I’ve been with my sister, Abigail, but am independent and lively on my own too. You’ll love my pretty brown eyes and silky long ears. As soon as you sit down on the couch, I’ll be up to snuggle. I’m long and lean and full of fun playing outside in a fenced in yard too. I like to explore the backyard but come right away when called. Right now I use my sister as a fun chew and wrestle toy but like squeaky toys too. Beware -- I can be a bit mischievous if you leave food on the table and a chair close to hop up on. I was a little itchy and had some goop in my eyes but am doing well eating a yeast-free sensitive diet food now. I gobble up my food serving twice a day and am excited when it is time to eat, but I’m very good about not begging for food. I am also very calm when you need to give me a bath. If you like company driving around, I love to ride on your lap in the car too. I’ve just had a little problem trying to be tough with the Labrador of the house, but she has been tolerant of me, and I have learned my place quickly. I’ll bark when the neighbors come out next door or to let you know someone’s coming but quiet down when you tell me to. I’m a real sweetheart and cuddle buddy ready to come live with you! If you’d like a great pair of doxies, check out my sister, Abigail. She’s looking for a good home too. If you want to adopt the two girls together we do offer a reducted rate for taking the two of them.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
