BIO:

My name is Sookie: I was born June 9, 2013. I am a playful and happy puppy for being so young and small. I play with my brother, Higgins, all the time (I like to ruff house with him). I like playing outside on the fenced in deck- I think the grass is too long for my little legs yet – it feels very funny? Higgins and I wrestle and hop around like bunnies – we have lots of energy for short periods.  I like taking lots of naps after I play.  I like being held and cuddled on my foster moms lap.  All I have to do to keep busy is: play, eat, potty, and snuggle to make me happy. I am looking for my forever home; a family who will give me lots of love, take me for walks, cuddle and play with me and always keep me safe.   I will need help with housebreaking, walking on a leash, and all those other puppy trainings.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
