BIO:
Bear came to us from a kill shelter in Alabama where he was given up by his owner because he didn’t like kids and would nip at the heels of the kids friends that came into the house. For that reason we say NO children for Bear.
Bear seems to be more drawn to the foster dad, while foster mom is ok Bear follows foster dad from room to room and outside when he goes outdoors.
Bear is housebroken and has no accidents in the home, likes to be outside on nice days and will spend hours outside just laying around or checking out the yard. For that reason Bear really needs a nice fenced in yard that he can keep free of varmints! Bear would be a great companion for a retired gentleman that wants a buddy to take with him everywhere but always on a leash cause we think if given the chance to be off leash Bear would be “GONE”.
If you can give Bear the kind of home he desires please fill out an application today for him. He’d love to be home before the end of July so he can still enjoy the nice weather before fall sets in.
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.
We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.
To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
