BIO: Idgie came from a home in middle AL along with Miss Scarlett and Daisy, they were being kept outside after the owner died so we said we’d be happy to take them into our rescue and find them a home.
Idgie may be up there in age but she doesn’t show it in her movements or demeanor. She loves one of the doggie beds here and spends most of her time snoozing in it. She will go to the doggie door and go out to potty then right back in again, maybe it’s because she did spend so much time outside when her owner died we don’t know but she’s a sweetie.
Sadly Idgie lost all her teeth when she had her dental, they were bad so now that they are gone she will start to feel better than ever. She gets along fine with all the other fosters here, young and old. If you want to help a senior and give one a home until the end please consider Idgie, she’s sweet, friendly, non-barker…just wants a soft place to lay her head. She will give you all her love that she has to give and you’d be doing a good thing for a dog that was banished to the outside when the owner died.
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.
We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.
To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
