BIO

We can get Shelton to the East Coast via transport.

Hi everyone this is Shelton and he's 2 years old.  He came in with Char, they were kept outside in a pen and never allowed inside.  Their caretaker decided it was time for them to have a better life and surrendered them to rescue.

Shelton is a very sweet boy but stubborn like a typical dachshund.  He does very well with positive reinforcement.

He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play and run outside.  I think he'd be good with having doggy siblings or being an only dog.  He's happy to get up in the big bed but will lay in my doggie bed too!  Although he's only been around older children, I think if younger children were around him he'd be good with them.  He's very gentle and loves belly rubs.

Can you find it in your heart to give this wonderful little guy a home?  All he wants is a place to call home where he can be loved for the rest of his life.  If you feel you can give him this please apply to adopt him.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We have now been approved to adopt and transport into the state of Massachusetts but there are guidelines the organization and adopters must follow. If adopting and before filling out the adoption form please e mail aadrpresident@gmail.com to get the guidelines and expenses that must be followed.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

More about Shelton #2...TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
