BIO:  Hi my name is Lilly.  I was rescued from an Athens, Alabama animal shelter.  I'm about 3 year’s old and very petite I only weigh about 9 1/2 pounds.  You can tell I'm a southern belle because I'm very quiet and polite.  I get along well with my foster brother and sisters, but I'd do okay in a home that doesn't have dogs too because I love to stay by my human's side.  I really love my foster dad but he works so my foster mom takes care of me most of the time.  Me and foster mom have bonded too, she treats me really good, and you wouldn't even know that I wasn't hers.

She tells me that perfect home is out there somewhere waiting for me that it just hasn't found me yet.  I know I'm safe and loved here but I need my own home so that my foster mom can help others just like me.  I have learned that not all humans are bad and they really do care.  I'm coming out of my shell more and more every day and I'm even starting to play with toys.  But my all-time favorite thing is when my foster mom gives us treats because we're good, they are so yummy.  Well my foster mom has a few things she wants to tell you so I better go, but before I do please consider adopting me, if you do, you not only help me but other dachshunds just like me.

Lilly is a sweet little girl who wants nothing more than to please her human.  She gets along great with other dogs and cats.  She is working on potty training and getting better every day.  As long as you're consistent about taking her out there should be no issues.  I think she'd prefer a home with a fenced in yard because she's shy about doing her business in front of you.  She also likes sleeping in the big bed with her foster mom and dad and doesn't hog the bed.    Anyone that adopts this little girl will be lucky, so won't you please open up your home and heart to her.  If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We have now been approved to adopt and transport into the state of Massachusetts but there are guidelines the organization and adopters must follow. If adopting and before filling out the adoption form please e mail aadrpresident@gmail.com to get the guidelines and expenses that must be followed.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dog’s cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

More about Lilly #6...FL

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
