Lady is a very sweet dog but needs time to warm up to strangers, once she knows you are no harm to her then you’re ok in her book.

She was surrendered by her owners in TN but she originally came from IN and at one time we think she was hit by a car because she has scars on one of her back legs. At times she’ll run on three legs but it doesn’t seem to bother her all the time just sometimes. We have been giving her Glucosamine Supplement and it does seem to be helping her. We did have the leg x-rayed by our vet and he says the leg had been broken. All that aside she is a wonderful dog.

Lady does appear to be housebroken will use the doggie door and is leash trained. She was with a younger child but did better with the older children in the home.

Lady really needs a home of her own with possibly a fenced in yard and another dachshund but not necessary. She’s a happy girl and does like to be with her people.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate. 

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
