BIO:  We only have three words for this boy….WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!!!

He’s friendly, housebroken, leash trained and gets along with all dogs and people…what more can you ask?? We don’t know why he was given up but we are glad he was, he was at a shelter and they asked us if we’d take him cause he was heartworm positive. We are getting him treated and he’ll be ready to go to his new home around the end of May. What better time to bring a new friend into your home than when school is out and summer is here. YOU won’t be sorry you adopted this boy. If his foster mom didn’t already have two of her own this boy wouldn’t go anywhere.

He had a fresh dental and lost “no” teeth.

We’d like to see him go to a home with a fenced in yard but he could be an only dog or with another one or two, he’s not picky. Please give Arlo the kind of home he deserves, you won’t be sorry at all.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Arlo...OH

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
