BIO:
Benson was a breeder in a puppy mill for his entire 7 yrs of life, and would love the opportunity to learn to be your loved pet. His first day in the foster home was 3/15/2013 and he is doing well for not being use to a lovely dachshund family. Benson is enjoying the fenced in back yard and running with the other dogs. Having not lived in a home for his 7 yrs, he needs time to learn how to play and to adjust to everyday events, EVERYTHING is new. Benson very much enjoys sleeping in the big bed and under the covers or in his own crate at night. Benson will be a great addition to any home with all the love that he gives, he loves being on the couch next to me while I watch TV, we are working on walking on a leash and he has come a long way while on walks with my 3 dachshunds. Benson has shown no interest in the 2 cats at my house and we are working on housebreaking by going outside frequently in fenced yard and crating.
If you are looking to add to your Furfamily please look at Benson because he is the sweetest dachshund and will be a great addition to your home.
Benson is gaining some much needed weight but with all his teeth gone we are wetting his dry food so he enjoys it!
More about Benson...NJ
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
