BIO:

Angel is appropriately named. She is very affectionate and as sweet as honey. This little girl will climb in your lap, put her head down, and stare up at you with the most precious look.  She likes to sleep in the big bed and be right beside you on the couch. Enjoys belly rubs and being told how beautiful she is. She has unusual markings as she is mostly black with just a little tan, and everyone comments on how pretty she is She loves everybody she meets and gets along fine with other dogs as long as they don’t try to take her treats-she will growl and let them know to stop! Would be fine as an only dog. I believe she would also be fine with cats because she is not a big “chaser.”

Angel came to us from a woman who was using her to breed puppies, and for some reason decided to turn her in to a shelter. I don’t think she has ever been mistreated, as her disposition is wonderful and she is very laid back.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
