BIO:

This handsome young pup’s name is Clyde.  He was a part of the duo Bonnie and Clyde that were dumped in a shelter, but is now temporarily a part of our home.  He is absolutely NO TROUBLE AT ALL.  He is very quiet, always the last to bark, although if you leave him in a different part of the house while you are home, he will whine a little.  He loves to play with our other two dachshunds, whether with toys or “just the boys.”  He is gentle, kindhearted, caring, and passionate about the people and dogs that surround him. I do not know why someone would leave an animal of this amazing temperament in a shelter.  I believe he would make an excellent companion for a child, wanting their first dog. He is slow to anger, quick to learn and eager to please. He has learned many new things while in our home. Some from us, and some from our dogs! Fetch, tug of war and not begging (if enforced) to name a few! Some of those faces he makes will just melt your heart.  Just like any other dachshund, he also loves to go outside and lay in the sun.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
