Blossom was a breeder in a NY puppy mill for her entire 6 yrs of life, and needs to learn to be a loved pet.

She enjoys the big fenced back yard. Having not lived in a home for her 6 yrs, she needs time to learn how to play and to adjust to everyday events. EVERYTHING is new to her. She very much enjoys her petting and being held. She is very, very cute and will make a great companion.  She walks very well on a leash. We are working on housebreaking by going outside frequently, in fenced yard and crating. Blossom does know her name and responds well to it...please if you are looking for a beautiful black and tan long hair you really need to check out this sweetie.

 If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate. 

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
