BIO:

For 7 ½ years, Boo was the queen of the castle.  Then in August of 2012, both of her elderly owners passed away.  She went to live with family members.  From what we know, the conditions were not suited for a queen.  Boo was used to a very quiet home.  They didn’t have the understanding, patience, time or money to take care of her.

Boo is slowly warming up to us in her foster home.  She does get along with the other two dachshunds and a cat.  Although I think she would do better either alone or with one other dog.

Boo LOVES to go for walks or a hike.  If you say the word “walk” you better mean it because she will be at the door before you get the leash out.  She greets everyone on the walk with her tail wagging.  Boo also lets the neighbors know she is out with a few barks along the way.

Boo likes to snuggle under a blanket on the couch or on a dog bed.  Sometimes when she is getting her “beauty” rest she will give you a growl to let you know she is not to be disturbed!!!!!!!

Boo really enjoys playing a game of tug of war with her favorite toy.  She takes the game very seriously with growling and shaking her head.  She also likes the toy to be tossed and she brings it back.

Boo is housetrained.  She does all her business outside.  She will go to the door to let you know she needs to go out.

Boo is trying really hard to adjust to all of these changes. She had a very sheltered life for 7 ½ years.  She will need an understanding family. She takes a bit to warm up.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
