BIO:

Maggie is the cutest little girl. She is very affectionate and energetic. She just goes with the flow and has blended very well with the other dogs in our home. She loves to give kisses and aims to please! She can be found enjoying “toy time” in her crate, running around in the yard, or napping on a warm lap. Maggie gets along great with other dogs, but she doesn’t like to share toys. Since Maggie had to have back surgery, she has a scar down her spine. Her hair is growing back beautifully and her scar is becoming less obvious every day. Maggie is also learning not to jump on furniture to prevent any strain on her back. Maggie needs someone who will help her keep her weight down and ensure that she doesn’t injure her back. She has been a joy to have in our home and she deserves a family who will love her forever!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
