BIO:

I am one of 10 puppies – my mommy is Sparkle (b/t dachshund - min-pin mix) and they say my daddy was a “traveling salesman”. I am a happy and playful puppy - I like to chew on things and I liked to climb! I can climb out of my little fenced in playpen! I climb out because there is way too much exploring to do to be cooped up.  I came to North Carolina with my sibling, my brother Spark. We are still looking for our “Furever” homes and maybe a little boy or girl to play with?  I’m not afraid of other dogs, even bigger ones like my foster sister a hound dog mix and I love to play with them and jump all over them. I like to play with toys, rip up paper, and jump around - too bad a puppy like me can’t join the Carolina Tarheels’s basketball team, as I know I could jump and make a slam-dunk!  I go outside to do my business some of the time, I am currently learning to go outside like my bigger foster siblings. All I need is my own family to love me, play with me and let me cuddle in a lap or two.  I’m very active, rambunctious and very outgoing. I haven’t learned to bark much yet but I do yip a little when I want to go out into the world to explore. If you take me home with you, I will bring you a lot of love and laughter and be your bestest friend forever!

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
