Being Fostered in Virginia

Hi, my name is Penney. I was bred many times at what is called a puppy mill. They didn’t take very good care of me at the mill, and my teeth were in really bad shape. They were so bad that when Southern States took me in for a dental, 20 teeth just fell out and 4 had to be pulled, that doesn't stop me from eating. My foster Mom gives me Pedigree soft packs that I really like! My foster Mom says I am total love all the time. When she comes home my tail wags all over my body. I am a good protector, I bark if someone comes, and I stop as soon as I am told. I get along with everyone. However, I haven't been around any cats or kids. I am housebroken and gentle natured. I love laps, quilts and sleeping in the big bed. If you decide to adopt me I promise to always love and protect you. I do have a heart murmur and I am on 2 medications that are only $4 a month at Wal-Mart. I don’t let the heart murmur stop me, and I hope you won’t let it stop you from considering me for your forever friend. I am UTD on all my shots and I am heart worm negative and on Interceptor and Frontline. If you can give me a wonderful home full of love, please fill out an application to adopt and list me "Penny" as your favorite doxie.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
