BIO:
Temperament/personality: Charo is the most adventurous and the largest of the pups. She’s playful, loves to be held and is just a joy to be around.
History: Charo’s mother Willow was surrendered to our rescue when the pups were four weeks old. Willow is a black and tan long-coat Dachshund and the father is a full Chihuahua (don’t know the coloring)
Training: Too young to train. She’s trained to use a potty pad while in foster care. From Dachworld.com: “Training a dachshund requires patience and firmness. Dachshunds were bred for their strong independence and to make decisions on their own. Those strong traits remain today and while admirable, make them a very difficult breed to train— difficult, but not impossible!” So start immediately and be consistent. These dogs are smart…very, very smart.
Best environment: A loving home with other pups or as an only pup. She’ll adjust to any loving environment. She needs someone who has the patience and experience to train her how to be a well-behaved dog and she in turn will be a loyal companion who will warm your heart…and your lap.
We will not adopt into the state of CT or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures. We are working hard to get approved to bring dogs into the state of NH and until that happens we can not adopt to anyone in that state either.
