BIO:
Temperament/personality: Dewey is playful yet quiet. At this age, much of their time is spent sleeping and eating. He loves to be wrapped in a pile with his brothers, is quietly affectionate and loves to be cuddled. His personality has yet to emerge because he’s so young.
History: Dewey is one of three pups born to his mother Beauty. Beauty came to our rescue from a puppy mill in east Tennessee.
Training: Too young to train. He’s trained to use a potty pad while in foster care. From Dachworld.com: “Training a dachshund requires patience and firmness. Dachshunds were bred for their strong independence and to make decisions on their own. Those strong traits remain today and while admirable, make them a very difficult breed to train— difficult, but not impossible!” So start immediately and be consistent. These dogs are smart…very, very smart.
Best environment: A loving home with other pups or as an only pup. He’ll adjust to any loving environment. He needs someone who has the patience and experience to train him how to be a well-behaved dog and he in turn will be a loyal companion who will warm your heart…and your lap.
