BIO:  Basil came from a puppymill in MO and I’m sure he guessed that to be the luckiest day in his life.

What a sweetie. We can’t say enough good things about this boy. He just wants to be loved. He will follow you all over the house and yard. He is doing very well on a leash. Will potty outside and go all night laying on a doggie bed in the bedroom without any accidents. He will even let you know if he has to go out. He’s even starting to play a little bit with the other younger dogs in his foster home.

Basil only has one drawback, he has mild separation anxiety so he would need to go to a home with someone that is home all the time or can take him with them and/or have another dog to keep him company when you are going running errands. He barks for a while when you leave but we don’t think he keeps it up and he’s not destructive just barks.

Basil is having to have a small portion of his tail removed due to severe infection but will be right as rain before going on to his new home. If you think you want to give this boy a forever home that he so richly deserves please fill out an online application and apply for him today. Out of state, no problem we can help get Basil to you, he’s a good little traveler.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We have now been approved to adopt and transport into the state of Massachusetts but there are guidelines the organization and adopters must follow. If adopting and before filling out the adoption form please e mail aadrpresident@gmail.com to get the guidelines and expenses that must be followed.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

More about BASIL..AL

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
