BIO:
Max Martin is a courtesy listing and not associated with All American Dachshund Rescue. Please contact Amye at the e-mail listed above for further details on Max Martin and how to adopt him.
Max is a cute and lovable 2 year old English Cream dachshund. He is neutered and up to date on shots. Everyone who sees him loves him - he is quite a looker and his color is unusual. He weighs 17lbs and has long hair. Max has been a member of our family since puppy hood. Max loves children, cats and other dogs. Unfortunately, he also loves birds and his prey instinct has kicked in. Max killed a beloved family pet that was 24 years old. We think it would be best if Max found a home without pet birds. He is very much a social dog and loves to be in the middle of things. He loves to go for walks and play fetch, Frisbee, etc. He tends to bolt, so he needs a home with a fenced yard. He is an inside dog and goes out for potty breaks. He is very friendly towards strangers. Max is extremely intelligent and manages to get what he wants. He is quite a character - he has learned how to unlock his playmates’ crates and will let them loose if he chooses. He loves to steal toys from his canine siblings. We are looking for the perfect home, but will keep him if we do not find it. We love him dearly and he has provided much entertainment and love to our family. He loves his belly rubbed and likes to sleep in the big bed, but will sleep well in a crate too.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
