faith is a wonderful dog. she is not a barker i hardly know she is here. except when it is time to eat. she loves to sit by my side and hang out. when the other dogs want to sit with me too. she gets kind of testy but all i have to say is "hey enough" then all is good. she eats in the crate with the door shut due to the fact she eats so fast that she will be trying to eat everybody else's food if fed with the others. she gains weight easily so for her to be healthy she should be fed portions not free feed. she will eat a treat out of the palm of my hand but not while holding with my fingers she will get fingers and all. the food issue-- it is just with me not the other dogs. we all love her around here and will miss her. FAITH came from AL where she was tied to a tree in the winter with no shelter while the womens other dachshund was inside. FAITH came to us very pregnant and scared to death. She was rescued by another women that wanted her but her dog didn't like FAITH so she contacted rescue. FAITH gave birth to 3 little dachshunds but she killed two of them and we got to her before she killed the other one ACEY. We think that FAITH was a commericial puppymill dachshund but because she killed her babies she was of no use to them so they sold her and how she ended up in AL we will never know. Since FAITH has now been spayed she is a very different dog. She loves other dogs, don't know about cats, Children 12 and up would be great and she just wants love love and more love. Please make FAITH'S dream come true and give this give the life she craves for, she deserves it. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about FAITH...NC
Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
