BIO:

Dixie is a fun-loving girl that is ready for a forever home where she'll be loved unconditionally and become a part of the family. Dixie was surrendered from a puppy mill in Waco, TX, but her breeding days are far behind her. Dixie quickly learned to be a spoiled, rotten little dachshund and has the hang of family life as a pet. She warms quickly to new people and LOVES to play at full throttle! When she's ready for a break, she enjoys getting a suntan and lounging in the yard. So, a forever home with a fenced yard and a play buddy that can match her energy level would make her VERY happy girl!

Being a typical dachshund, Dixie is treat/ toy-possessive, so her foster mom makes sure she's in her crate when the chew bones are handed out to avoid any fisticuffs between the gang. Dixie has done beautifully getting the hang of housetraining and her new family just needs to keep her on a schedule to ensure her good manners continue. She needs some practice with walking on a leash, but maybe her new best friend can help her!

Dixie is a joy to have around! If you have any questions or would like additional pictures of Dixie, just drop her mom an email.

We have now been approved to adopt and transport into the state of Massachusetts but there are guidelines the organization and adopters must follow. If adopting and before filling out the adoption form please e mail aadrpresident@gmail.com to get the guidelines and expenses that must be followed.

More about Dixie...NJ

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
