BIO:  Libby2 was found in a rural community in North Central Alabama. The people that had her hanging around her home were afraid she  would get killed by coyotes  so they contracted rescue to take her in and get her safe. We think she was a used up breeder dog as many small backyard breeders will do this to their used up stock.

Now about Libby, she is a sweet sweet girl that is very undemanding. She is timid but just happy to have a warm bed and someone to feed her on a regular schedule. She uses the doggie door and is not one for wanting to be outside for long unless you go out with her. Aside from that she has no faults other than she wants to have the love she never had. She is so sweet and if you give her attention she will show you her belly. She loves attention and will thrive in a home that can give her lots of it.

This little girl is low maintenance, and won’t mind being the only dog or with another dog, she does like her food so that would need to be monitored so she doesn’t get overweight.

Are you looking for a sweet low maintenance little girl that may need to have  housetraining refresher course if you don’t have a doggie dog? We think a fenced in yard would be best for her since she doesn’t do so well on a leash.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We have now been approved to adopt and transport into the state of Massachusetts but there are guidelines the organization and adopters must follow. If adopting and before filling out the adoption form please e mail aadrpresident@gmail.com to get the guidelines and expenses that must be followed.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
