Cinder 1st time w a toy

Cinder was rescued with April, Dixie, Shy, Tater and JellyBean from a puppy mill near Waco Texas.  Despite never having been shown any human kindness or been loved, Cinder is a fabulous little puppy.  He is STARVED for affection. He loves to give kisses! He is SUCH a puppy and wants to see, smell, lick, chew and taste it all!  He has found the joy of toys.  He can't get enough of playing with toys, squeaky ones, soft ones, fuzzy ones; it doesn't matter to him as long as he can have one to chew on. And Cinder is learning to play ball, oh he loves the ball when it's tossed and rolls around- he doesn't bring it back yet, he  needs someone to continue to teach him how.

Before coming to rescue he had no training at all.  He is a quick learner. He is doing fabulous on his potty training and loves to get his Liver snap treat each time he goes in the yard. Amazingly he has only had a few marking/potty accidents in the house when foster Mom doesn't get to the door fats enough and none in his crate. Somehow he knows that he is in a safe place that is clean and smells nice and he likes it that way.

Cinder is learning to walk on a leash he pulls and tries to lead you as each day is a totally new adventure of first time things for him. He loves to cuddle on the big bed with his foster sister and brothers. He has no food aggression typical of puppy mill dogs.

Cinder also lives with 3 cats- he could care less about them.  He doesn't bark at or chase them at all, they are just one big happy family. He isn't much of a barker at all. He needs a fenced yard with lots of grass to roll in and someone that will take him for walks and let him be the happy go lucky puppy he needs and deserves to be.

Cinder likes to go into his crate all by himself, when we can't find him- there he is, resting, all curled up on the soft blankets.

Cinder would make a great family dog, (for children over the age of ten that can respect a puppy) as he loves to play and play and play. He would be happy being the only dog or with another one as well.

JellyBean, April, Dixie, Shy, Tater and Cinder were all confiscated from a cruelty hoarder case  due to inadequate housing. They had lived in deplorable conditions,  they were in wire cage runs just on the ground in the dirt. There was no shelter, they didn't get any relief from the rain or the sun they lived in the mud and in their own feces and urine all over the place. There were a total of 78 dogs confiscated from the hoarder breeder.

Imagine living in the dirt, getting food when it was convenient for the breeder, sleeping in the mud, flies in your eyes all the time, covered with ticks and fleas, no shelter from the blazing hot sun, no walls or a roof to keep out the cold and the rain. Imagine not knowing that being afraid of being hit and hungry, cold and tired is NOT a way of life. This was the only life they ever knew...................

But they are safe and warm now and can learn to be pets instead of breeding machines. There have been so many firsts for them since they were rescued..  the first time in the grass  (like Cinder and Jellybean in the video) the first time they got to snuggle in a dog bed, play with a toy, get up on the big bed, be pet and loved on.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
