BIO:

If you are looking for a sweet natured, well behaved companion pet, Dodger is the dog for you!

This adorable little dachshund was surrendered by his long time family in Tennessee because the household became too hectic for him.  In short, the Dodge and the toddler did not see eye to eye.  So it is suggested that Dodger’s forever home be more subdued without small children.

Having said that, Dodger is a very happy and friendly and well adjusted little guy with no major issues.  He is totally housebroken, leash trained, and doesn’t jump up on people or beg.  He shows no sign of separation anxiety, (barking, howling, marking or trashing), and can be left alone without problems.  He does like to play a bit, and snuggle and cuddle with you on the couch, but is happy to retire to his doggie bed when asked, and will stay put in it all night long.

Don’t let his age deter you!  Nine for a doxie is right in the middle, and, being in good health, Dodger looks and acts like a much younger dog.  He’s energetic and loves to go out on walks to explore and socialize.  Because of his unique coat and markings he gets alot of attention, so with the Dodger dog trotting by your side, you just may lose a pound while gaining an acquaintance or two.

Dodger makes a perfect apartment/condo pet, as his foster mom will confirm, but will be just as happy in a home with steps and/or doggie door leading to a securely fenced in yard.  So, why not make your home in the last stop on Dodger’s journey to find his forever home ?

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
