Charlie 9 is a VERY handsome young boy who found his way to All American because his owners had to enter assisted living. Charlie is only 6 months old and is playful, enjoys chasing toy/balls and playing in the back yard. He’s used to being an “only child”, but will do well as a companion for another dog, too.  Charlie’s temperament is typical long-haired doxie—he’s laid back, enjoys his people, is quite a lover and snuggle buddy. He’s good in a crate at night and while his foster family is away and is not much of a barker. He’s doing very well on housetraining manners and will need consistency and patience to continue with good behaviors. He’s young and does not mark. We’re working on leash training, and he just needs some practice and patience. Charlie meets and greets people well and has no bad behaviors other than typical puppy stuff. He’s a blank slate and would benefit greatly from some basic training.

If you have any questions or would like more pictures of handsome Charlie, just email his foster mom! smburmei@comcast.net

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You can pick up the dog or make arrangements for transport via paid ground transport of via volunteer transport. A $35 fee for a veterinarian-issued health certificate is required for ground transport.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
